The RaceQuip 122 series multi-layer SFI-5 racecar driver's fire suit pants are constructed with an outer layer of durable Pyrovatex® FRC, backed by a layer of Nomex®, and lined with an additional layer of Pyrovatex®. It's worth noting that, although these materials are sometimes referred to as "fireproof," all auto racing safety gear is, in fact, "fire retardant." Pyrovatex® offers the ideal combination of overall flame and heat protection, durability, and comfort for the price. This fire-retardant cotton-based (FRC) material is chosen for the inner and outer layers due to its ability to retain the softness and breathability of cotton while effectively wicking away moisture from the skin. Pyrovatex® fabric is gentle and non-irritating, even for the most sensitive skin. The treatment process leaves the exterior surface shiny and supple. Thanks to the Pyrovatex® process, which combines a chemical agent with the raw cotton fibers to create a molecular-level bond, these pants will maintain their flame-retardant properties throughout the useful life of the garment. The middle layer consists of Nomex(R) batting, which is an inherently fire-retardant aramid fabric. All racing pants are assembled using heavy-duty, multi-needle, over-lock safety stitch machines to ensure exceptional seam strength.
